Indian Bridal Wear: Celebrities Sported Sari on Their Wedding


According to Hindu Tradition, Red silk sari is given the first preference as the Indian Bridal wear. However, due to modernization and innovations by the designers, other garments such as lehenga choli, fusion salwar kameez
replaced traditional sari. However thanks to most famous Indian celebrities who wore traditional hindu wedding dress from 2007 to 2011 that sari is back in the game.






Aishwarya Rai in 2007: 


Aishwarya Rai, known for winning the Miss World Pageant in 1994 and often quoted as the ‘most beautiful woman in the world' wore a golden lehenga sari by designer Neeta Lulla. The attire was often quoted to be a typical ‘Maglorean sari' which was draped in the fashion reflecting the traditions of ‘Bunt community' to which she belongs. Sari complemented the traditional kundan jewelry set very well. 










Elizabeth Hurley in 2007: 


The English model and actress who tied knot with the Indian textile heir, Arun Nayar, in 2007 also wore a pink sari for the Hindu traditional wedding. The couple specifically had two ceremonies to give equal importance to both the ethnicity. Liz was also spotted wearing sari at various occasions during her visit to India for the wedding. 














Shilpa Shetty in 2009: 


The winner of the reality show, Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2007, Shilpa Shetty also carried forward the tradition. Although there have been pieces of news suggesting that the Bollywood actress copied Aishwarya Rai's wedding look completely, the sari that Shilpa wore was red in color. Apart from that, the actress looked dazzling in kundan jewelry. Sari was adorned with golden embroidery work while the bride paired it with short sleeved blouse with strings and hanging arrangements. 






Isha kopikkar in 2011:
 


The famous Bollywood actress, Isha Kopikkar who married restaurateur, Timmy Narang, in February, 2011 also wore a red sari with a matching dupatta. She, being known for her sensuous characters on screen, surprised everyone by with her Indian bridal wear which included salwar kameez and peacock colored lehenga.
